Caden Cunningham, an eighth-grade student at McCormick Junior High, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of March 11.
Cunningham moved from Largo, Florida, to Cheyenne with his mom, dad and sister, Kylie, in 2016. He attended Jessup Elementary before coming to McCormick.
Cunningham is very active in the Cheyenne Swim Club and is a competitive swimmer for McCormick.
He excels at mathematics, is a percussionist in the band and enjoys participating in TV media class. Outside of school, Cunningham volunteers at Trinity Lutheran Church and for the Friday Food Bag Foundation.
Cunningham’s teachers describe him as a responsible, hard-working student who is always willing to help others.
“He has a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor,” the selection committee said. “He has outstanding leadership qualities and is looked up to by his peers.”
“It means a lot and it’s hard to explain in words but it really made me feel special and I’m happy to receive this award,” Cunningham said.
