The Cheyenne Post has announced the appointment of two key people who have assumed newsroom leadership roles for both the newspaper and digital media outlets, according to Vince Bodiford, president and publisher.
Brucene Wilson has been named Editor of The Cheyenne Post, effective this week. Wilson assumes the day-to-day duties of the news operations of the newspaper, including all editing and content oversight.
Wilson is the former owner and president of Excel Media, which included community newspapers. She held reporter positions for Gannett News Service and the Boulder Daily Camera. She is also a former Digital Editor for New York Newsday. She is a Cheyenne native. Dave Lerner has been named Director of Digital Media, also effective this week. Lerner assumes the day-to day duties of leading the digital media operations of the news outlet, including the website www.TheCheyennePost.com and social media platforms.
Lerner got his start in journalism as a producer for All Things Considered, with National Public Radio (NPR). He moved west and started a career in television, and he served as anchor, producer, reporter, photographer, and news director for a variety of television stations, settling in Cheyenne in 1991, where he was a television news director until 1998. He then founded Wyoming Network, Inc, a network of community news websites around Wyoming, from which he retired from last year.
Vince Bodiford, who is also the CEO of parent company Golden Media, Inc., was acting editor since founding the newspaper this past summer, and he continues to serve as publisher of The Cheyenne Post.
