Drivers and base visitors should plan for several weeks of changed access at F.E. Warren Air Force Base: a stretch of Rogers Road will be closed this summer and gate operations will shift around a community event. These temporary adjustments begin June 23 and carry implications for daily commuters, deliveries and anyone attending Fort D.A. Russell Days.
Starting June 23, a portion of Rogers Road between Gate 5 and Choctaw Drive will be closed for construction and maintenance work. The shutdown is scheduled to remain in effect through Sept. 15 unless unplanned weather or site conditions force a change.
Although that segment will be inaccessible, entry to the installation remains possible via Gate 5 using Central Avenue. Central Avenue will also provide the main route to base lakes from the Central Avenue–Wapiti Road intersection. The base will post directional signs and place cones to guide traffic around the closures.

What to expect during the construction window
To support the work, base officials are temporarily swapping some gate duties. From June 23 through July 16 the functions normally handled at Gate 1 and Gate 5 will be reversed: Gate 1 will operate as the main 24/7 entrance while Gate 5 will be open only Monday through Friday.
The weekend of July 17–19 is an exception because the base will host Fort D.A. Russell Days. During that event Gate 1 will be reserved exclusively for event traffic, so the installation’s everyday entry point for personnel and deliveries will switch to Gate 2, which will be open around the clock. Gate 5 will remain available Monday through Friday during the event weekend.
After the celebration, normal temporary postures resume: beginning July 20 and continuing through Sept. 15, Gate 1 returns to the primary 24/7 role and Gate 5 stays as the secondary, weekday-only option.
