Airport Terminal Plans for the Future
With growth comes more responsibility to plan for the future.
The airport terminal construction is expected to be completed in fall of 2018. 80% if the contractors used for the project has been local contractors, has created $1.6 million in payroll and provided 200 jobs. Anticipating the completion of the new airport terminal, the Cheyenne Regional Airport formed a coalition called CRAFT focused recruiting a new airline.
With the new terminal they airport can better serve the potential customer base of 450k individuals. Current CYS data shows that the top destination shows currently are Seattle, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Dallas.
When asked about what the plans are for the old terminal, it was shared it will be utilized for two years for storage.
However after that duration it was expressed by Airport Director, Tim Barth, “It is going to be an interesting community discussion.”
By having more accessible and realiable air service in the community, residents and potential passengers will have to change their traveling mindset. This paradigm shift will be making people pay a higher price locally for a flight without having the additional costs of driving to surrounding air service, paying for parking and even lodging for varied flights.
