Police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, are seeking a man they say killed his estranged wife inside her home while their children were present, prompting an active search and a public safety warning. Authorities say the incident unfolded Wednesday morning and the suspect remains at large, raising immediate concern for neighbors and anyone who might encounter him.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office, officers issued a warrant for 33-year-old Marckus Plaza after investigators say he fatally stabbed his estranged spouse. A friend who was on the phone with the woman called police after hearing what she believed was a man becoming physically aggressive with her during the call.
Officers arrived to the residence and, the complaint states, Plaza initially answered the door using a different name and closed it. Police then moved to a basement window where they observed a man dragging what appeared to be a body. They forced entry, at which point Plaza fled the scene. Inside, they found the woman with a stab wound to the face; she was later pronounced dead.

Scenes inside the home suggested a struggle, with blood reported throughout several rooms. Two young children were located at the property; one is described as being days away from his fifth birthday. When the older child was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center, he told investigators that his father had hurt his mother and used a knife, officials said. The younger child was found with blood on his clothing.
