Woman stabs boyfriend after fight over TV: then tries to cut off his hair, police say

A Tallahassee woman was arrested after a domestic dispute over possessions escalated into a violent encounter that police say involved a knife. The incident on April 11 left one person injured, prompted an attempted murder charge, and ended with the suspect posting bond the next day.

What officers say happened

According to a probable cause affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime and statements from the Tallahassee Police Department, the victim called 911 saying his girlfriend was damaging his apartment and that the disagreement had turned physical. When officers arrived, they reported seeing blood throughout the residence.

Bodycam or surveillance footage taken inside the home — which the boyfriend reportedly showed to police — captured the argument and much of the ensuing struggle. The recording, police say, documents a dispute that began after the boyfriend accused the woman of seeing another man and asked her to leave.

Police allege the confrontation intensified: the woman struck the victim, locked him out, and later, when the door was forced open, was holding a kitchen knife with a blade police estimated at roughly five to seven inches. She reportedly insisted on leaving only with certain items she claimed were hers, including a television and a black purse.

  • Date: April 11
  • Location: Tallahassee apartment
  • Alleged weapon: kitchen knife, blade about 5–7 inches
  • Charge: attempted murder
  • Arrest status: arrested April 11, posted bond April 12

Officers say the victim sustained at least one cut to a finger after the woman made slashing motions. The affidavit also describes a struggle over the victim’s hair and a wig being removed during the fight; at one point the victim managed to secure the knife and take it back into the kitchen. The woman then collected her belongings and left the scene, police say.

Following the incident

Police located the woman later the same night and questioned her at her apartment. After being advised of her rights, she provided a shortened account that acknowledged the argument over ownership of items but denied trying to kill the victim and said she could not remember parts of what happened, according to the affidavit.

Teariney Dixon, 37, was booked into the Tallahassee Detention Center on April 11 on an attempted murder charge and was released on bond the following day. Court records did not list a next hearing date at the time of reporting.

The case remains active and will proceed through the local criminal justice system as prosecutors review the evidence and set future proceedings.
