A man with a history of road-rage attacks was sentenced this week to prison after a violent confrontation in downtown Honolulu left a mother with a head wound and her teenage daughter struck while they were trying to parallel park. The case raises fresh concerns about repeat offenders and public safety after the defendant was released early from a prior sentence in California.
Prosecutors say 39-year-old Nathaniel Radimak lunged at a parked vehicle on Halekauwila Street on May 7, 2025, and struck the daughter before turning on the mother, who suffered a laceration to her head. Radimak pleaded no contest to one count of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and two counts of third-degree assault and received a seven-year prison term, with credit for roughly a year already served.
Surveillance video reviewed by investigators shows a Tesla passing the pair as they attempted to park; the car came close enough to alarm them, prompting the daughter to call for the driver to slow down. The vehicle then circled back, witnesses told police, and the confrontation escalated quickly.

The mother told local media she exited the car to intervene and was struck in the face, describing a deep cut that required immediate attention. The family’s infant, who was in their care at the time, was unharmed.
Prior incidents and parole history
Radimak is not new to law enforcement. Authorities in California linked him to a string of road-rage episodes beginning in January 2020, when he allegedly used a metal pipe during one altercation. He was sentenced in a separate matter in 2023 to five years behind bars but was released on parole after serving less than a year and later relocated to Hawaii.
After moving to the islands, Radimak was accused of additional aggressive acts, including an incident at a local gym in which a woman said he threatened and swung at her. Those allegations factored into the prosecution’s portrayal of a pattern of violent behavior during sentencing.
- Date of attack: May 7, 2025 — Halekauwila Street, Honolulu
- Charges resolved: Unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle; two counts of third-degree assault
- Sentence: Seven years in prison, with about one year credited as time served
- Prior conviction: 2023 sentencing in California; served under one year before parole
At his sentencing hearing, Radimak acknowledged responsibility, telling the court he regretted his actions and accepted accountability, according to reporting by Hawaii News Now. Victims and prosecutors emphasized the consequences of allowing repeat offenders back onto the streets.
Legal observers say the case highlights tensions in the criminal justice system between reducing prison populations and protecting communities from individuals with documented histories of violent behavior. For the victims, the outcome provides a measure of closure but also underscores the trauma that a single episode of road rage can inflict on families going about everyday errands.
