Over 74 Teams Walk This Year during the Walk of Grace
Hope is Stronger than Fear!
A sea of purple took over Lions Park on Saturday, August 12. 2018 with over 2000 walkers.
The Walk of Grace is an annual Grace for 2 Brothers event. A time for those to join together to break the silence of suicide and offer a weekend of reflection, ounces of peace, handfuls of gratitude, and a safer community looking to support those whose lives that have been affected by suicide and spread the message that there is hope.
This year there were four Spirit of Grace Award presented. Recipients were: Dr. Berry with Youth Alternatives, Steven Bates & Sandra Erickson with PoemSpeak, Dr. Chen BHS with CRMC, and Outgoing Board Member Brooke Buchanan.
The Walk of Grace is more than just an event every year, it’s a reunion of people who are bravely facing the topic of mental health and suicide together arm in arm. It’s an emotional day for every person in attendance be they loss survivors, those struggling with mental health, and those coming to support the cause, but somehow it’s a renewing of hope knowing that all of us are not alone in any of it. Though hardships brought us into the Grace family, we are comforted in knowing that we don’t have to face this life along. Hope really is stronger than fear and we will continue to face the fear of mental health conversations to provide hope to those that need to hear this message: You are needed here in this world, if you are struggling please reach out.
