Cancer Survivor Finishes Run Around Perimeter of U.S.

Helene Neville completed her final 3,680-mile stretch last weekend in Washington.

Early one May morning in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, Helene Neville dipped a bottle in the Atlantic Ocean, filling it to the brim with the brine. Four months and 12 days later, she poured the water into the Pacific’s waves crashing onto the beach in Ocean Shores, Washington.

The jubilant moment marked the end of a 3,680-mile journey on foot across the northern U.S. states. It was also the conclusion of a grander attempt to run the entire perimeter of the country.
