Broadband is a No Go
High West Energy Halts Broadband Project
After many months of gathering member feedback, analyzing financials and weighing the risks and rewards of offering broadband service in Southeast Wyoming, Western Nebraska and Northern Colorado, the High West Energy leadership decided not to continue with the project.
“There is no doubt that there are people in the tristate region who are underserved and lack high speed internet access,” said Brian Hiethoff, CEO/general manager of High West Energy. “However, we were uncomfortable with the financial risk that comes with offering broadband.”
The decision to invest in fiber optic was not taken lightly. The co-op leadership had varying opinions on the merits of offering high-speed internet during the due diligence phase. Ultimately, it was in the best interest of the co-op to discontinue the broadband project.
High West Energy will continue serving its members by providing safe, reliable and competitively priced energy and services focusing on the needs of the membership.
For those who pre-enrolled, a refund check will be mailed by July 1, 2017.
