17th Street Downtown Lights Up
Downtown Cheyenne’s night life will have new meaning with the recent lighting of newly installed lights on 17th Street. The lights are adorning by crossing one another overhead on this prominent street. The cooridor is home to various restaurants and businesses, like 2 Doors Down and Ballet Wyoming to name of few, whose storefronts will now have this new amenity. Additionally, lighting is known to help with public safety and is most certainly an embellishment which adds great ambiance to the area.
“The lighting of 17th Street is a great step in the right direction.” shared Barb Sandick, who witnessed the lighting of the street.
The effort for lights strung in the downtown area has been a priority for sometime. The Downtown Core, comprised of the DDA/Mainstreet, Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, Cheyenne LEADS and Visit Cheyenne, worked to “Light Up” downtown with their outlined plan in 2016 and was successful in getting results for outstanding community priorities such as this. The Core Plan was adopted by the City and since projects have been focused on for completion. This can now be checked off the list.
