Joint Jurisdiction Wins in Legislative Joint Committee
Last Friday, September 1, the Joint Transportation, Highways & Military Affairs Interim Committee of our State Legislature met and discussed their standing on a bill that allows joint jurisdiction between our military and local law enforcement. Simply put, the bill will allow the military and the state to negotiate an MOU that will give local law enforcement jurisdiction on certain portions of F.E. Warren AFB and potentially other military facilities around the state. The Joint Transportation and Military Committee passed the bill and will be supporting it, which your Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce applauds. Several groups, including the Chamber, have been strongly advocating for this bill for several months.
WY We Care: Cheyenne is proud of its military heritage. Joint jurisdiction provides a unique way for us to support our military families and support them as part of our community. A big drive for us here at the chamber is not only the care of men and women in uniform, but also their families. We are proud that our community is taking a step towards furthering their protection.
