CFD Old West Museum Holds Book Club Night
Native Realities: A 21st Century Western Self-Identity
Free Book Club Night January 10, 2018, 5:30pm-7:30pm
Join us at the CFD Old West Museum on January 10, 2018 for a free book club night in conjunction with our new exhibit,.This evening, we will be reading Trickster: Native American Tales, edited by Matt Dembicki, Jonesy by Jonathan Nelson, and Tribal Force One by Jon Proudstar.
This exhibit presents the artwork of contemporary artists whose works engage in the discussions of identity in the American West. 21st Century comic book and graphic arts give Native Americans a new and exciting way to retell their myths and legends and re-examine the relationship between Native Americans and Western American stereotypes. These contemporary art pieces illustrate a striking contrast with the historic perception of the American West and individual artist perspectives.
Admission to the book club is free. To register and purchase your books, email Arts & Education Coordinator Megan Hesser, at megan.hesser@oldwestmuseum.org
