While majority of the State of Wyoming school districts have decreased, Laramie County School Districts #1 & #2 both grew.
A new state report revealed that there was an increase in enrollment for Laramie County School Districts from the 2016-2017 year to 2017-2018 compared to the state. According to Wyoming Department of Education, overall the state experienced a .3% decrease in public school enrollment over the same period.
Laramie County School District #1 had an increase of 35 students (14,071 total) and School District #2 had a 50 student increase (1,051). While much of the statewide decrease resulted from economic downturn from the energy industry, the greater Cheyenne area saw an increase because of the economic development work of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce.
The expertise of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce resulted in 600+ jobs in the military for the greater Cheyenne area. This replaced jobs lost from the energy sector and some.
