Is it possible to feel love in a bank? As Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County, I am pleased to report that indeed one can find love in the world of finance. This is especially true when you are part of a community supported by a Chamber of Commerce as effective as ours.
As a Chamber member, I’ve had many opportunities to expand my professional network. When visiting with a few of Cheyenne’s financial leaders about my idea for “The House that Banks Built”, a program that would enable Habitat to build one of the four affordable homes we’re working on in 2018, I knew they would offer positive feedback because of the relationships we’ve cultivated through the Chamber.
Before long I was presenting my proposal to a board room full of bankers interested and excited to help. They asked great questions that gave my staff and me the opportunity to improve our plans, and many of them gave us fantastic advice and feedback throughout the process.
This spring, we’re excited to roll out this partnership, highlighting what can be accomplished when different sectors of our community work together. With these connections, our community is able to effectively invest in affordable housing and all of its benefits.
This opportunity wouldn’t have been possible without a supportive and engaging Chamber of Commerce bringing different types of businesses together every day. It’s a form of love that makes our community what it is. At Habitat for Humanity we’re thankful to turn that love into the opportunity to change lives.
It’s truly all we need.
