Month of the Military Child
April is designated as the Month of the Military Child.
This is a time to honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide, with an emphasis on the experience of the dependent children of military members serving at home and overseas.
The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee (MAC) held it’s 3rd Annual Month of the Military Child Essay Contest. The winners were celebrated at a Kick-Off party on March 29, 2018 at the LCCC Clay Pathfinder Building in the ANB Leadership Center. Awards were presented by Chamber Board Member, Patrick Collins, and MAC Steering Committee member, Carolyn Ritschard.
Military children grades 4-8 were asked to write about this topic: “What Being a Military Child Has Taught Me.”
This year’s Winners were:
Grade 4-6 – 1st William Remele, 2nd Lane Bybee
Grades 7,8 – 1st Daemon Welch, 2nd Rachel Gordon
Month Of The Military Child was established in April 1986, and the Department of Defense has honored his initiative ever since. Although April is designated as Month of the Military Child, let’s spread the word and celebrate them everyday.
