No Child Should Go To Bed Hungry

Donations help local children fight against hunger.

Megan Longstreet has been working hard to gather donations with Cheyenne and Wyoming News Group for the Burns High School FBLA Food pantry.

Megan said she did this because, “No child should ever go to bed hungry and if I can make a difference, I’m going to!”

Megan reached out to Britany Mitchell, FBLA Advisor and asked if they needed some help. She then started working on refilling the shelves. Since Megan has started working on this, she raised 700 individual items to help out those in need.

According to Feeding America, 1 in 7 people in the U.S. face hunger every year. The rates of hunger in children are even higher, with about 1 in 5 lacking proper access to food at some point during the year. 62% of teachers in the U.S. say children in their classrooms are coming to school hungry.

Megan has shown great leadership in stepping up where there is a need in a community, and her leadership will impact many not just in the short term, but for a long time. This can only happen by helping feed one child at a time and Megan is going above and beyond to make an impact.
