Register for the Wyoming Pink Ribbon Run
The Wyoming Pink Ribbon Runs are quickly approaching on August 11th, held in both Cheyenne and Casper.
The events will begin with a breast cancer survivor celebration and the Run starting at 8:30 am. The Wyoming Pink Ribbon Run is the largest fundraiser event for the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative. You can show your support by forming a team, registering as an individual, volunteering, or donating. You can register to participate in the August 11th event in the 5k timed run/walk, 1-mile untimed walk (Cheyenne only), or even as a virtual participant (on the couch!). Breast cancer survivors register for free- thanks to generous Wyoming doctor donations.
The Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative (WBCI) is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization that has a mission to increase breast cancer awareness and prevention across Wyoming. Through year-round statewide fundraising efforts, all proceeds remain in Wyoming to increase breast health education, financially assist breast cancer screenings or diagnostic services, facilitate patient navigation, and promote survivor services. The WBCI has two main grant programs, managed through the Wyoming Community Foundation, available to breast cancer programs and medical providers. From our 2016 inception, the WBCI has raised over $200,000, awarding grants in every Wyoming county. In partnership with the Wyoming Cancer Resource Services, breast cancer screening vouchers are available to the uninsured or under-insured with no age restrictions. In just one year, the WBCI funds granted into Wyoming supported: 1,575 clinical breast exams, screening or diagnostic mammograms, or ultrasounds; diagnosis of 7 women with breast cancer; distribution of over 40 certified fittings of breast prosthetic and bras; and 5 awareness and celebration events.
