Summer Water Schedule Ends

With the onset of cooler temperatures and earlier sunsets, the City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities (Board) will remove the “no watering between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.” rule, effective Saturday, September 1, 2018.

This change will ensure customers have plenty of daylight to set hoses and sprinklers up to water their yards. While this water conservation measure has been formally lifted, the Board continues to encourage everyone to remain thoughtful with their water usage. This can be easily accomplished by continuing to avoid watering during the hottest part of the day and watering less than three days per week.

While the change in seasons brings about the end of the summer water schedule, other water conservation rules apply all year long. Wasting water by allowing it to run down the street remains prohibited. Customers can wash vehicles any time, any day, with the use of an automatic shut-off nozzle on hoses and/or buckets. Washing hard surfaces, such as sidewalks, parking lots or driveways with a hose is prohibited except for health, safety, or construction reasons.

The “no watering between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.” rule will return with the longer days next spring.
