Empowering Their Future…Because Learning Never Ends
The Wyoming Afterschool Alliance will host the 10th Annual WYAA State Conference on Afterschool Programs on October 2-3, 2018 at Little America in Cheyenne.
Learn about how afterschool programs are working to increase workforce readiness for young people at Wyoming’s only statewide afterschool conference. Designed for afterschool professionals, school day educators, school administrators, schoolboard members, community members, civic and business leaders, and other key partners, the conference offers best practices, innovative ideas and strategies and development of new partnerships and collaborations with community resources that can positively impact the state New for 2018, WYAA has partnered with Wyoming Department of Family Services to offer an early childhood track that will strengthen and expand relationships with educators and partners from around the Cowboy State.
The rich schedule of events includes a plenary lunch with an esteemed panel: Dr. Sylvia Lyles, U.S. Department of Education’s Director of Academic Improvement and Teacher Quality Programs (21st CCLC Director); Jodi Grant, Executive Director of the Afterschool Alliance, and Jillian Balow, Wyoming’s State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Attendees will also enjoy inspirational speaker Shauna Bruce-Hamburger; an invigorating morning keynote with Songteller Dave Munsick; the National Lights on Rally and Celebration for Afterschool in Wyoming; and a lunch keynote from Dr. Jennifer Davis with Wyoming Children’s Trust Fund on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES)
The evening reception on Tuesday, October 2 is a can’t miss event featuring the unveiling of the “State-of-the-State of STEM in Afterschool” Map, a gubernatorial meet and greet with Democrat Mary Throne and Republican Mark Gordon, the introduction and showcase of the TMC/WYAA Mobile Maker Labs and the Inaugural Wyoming Afterschool Professionals Awards.
