LCSD #1 Educator Sexual Abuse Trial Begins
Math teacher at Johnson Junior High, Joe Meza, Sexual Abuse Trial begins.
Warrant for Meza’s arrest was issued Friday, July 7th, 2017. Laramie County School District (LCSD) #1 then put him on paid administrative leave at the start of the 2017-2018 school year following the filing of charges. Currently he is facing eight counts sexual intrusion of a young girl.
According to the Wyoming Tribune Eagle article, “The girl, identified by her initials in court documents because she was a minor during the time of the alleged offenses, became close with the teacher and track coach over the next year. The two eventually began exchanging text and instant messages in early 2014. The girl told police they were ‘flirty in nature.’
It is believed by investigators that Meza and the girl’s relationship progressed to a sexual nature in May of 2014. They continued these relations until April of 2017.
