Tree of Remembrance Lighting Ceremony
Tree of Remembrance Lighting Ceremony to be Held at Frontier Mall December 1
Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Hospice and the CRMC Foundation are hosting the 23rd annual Tree of Remembrance lighting ceremony inside Frontier Mall near Dillard’s West on December 1, 1:30 p.m.
During the ceremony community members are invited to place paper doves on the tree with written notes to remember or honor family members and friends.
“The tree offers our community a chance to celebrate the many ways that others have impacted and blessed our lives,” said David Stratton, CRMC’s hospice chaplain. “It’s also a way to celebrate the season by remembering and honoring those in our lives who we have lost but who continue to hold a very special place in our hearts.”
The ceremony will include the tree lighting, a song from Stratton, a short message and a live bagpipe rendition of Amazing Grace.
Participants will then be invited to place doves on the tree and are welcome to stay after the ceremony to listen to a recital by local piano students.
Several hundred doves will be available on the day of the lighting ceremony. Hospice volunteers will also be handing out doves at a booth near the tree through December 23.
There is no cost to place a dove on the tree, although a donation can be made to the CRMC Foundation, with all proceeds to be given to CRMC Hospice, which includes both the Davis Hospice Center and in-home hospice care.
“I really encourage people to stop by, even if it’s just to view the tree and to read some of the notes of remembrance. It really is a moving sight and experience,” Stratton said.
