Michael Staley Named First Student of the Week in 2019
Michael Staley was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Jan. 7.
According to the selection committee Staley, who is an eighth-grade student at Carey Junior High, is “an amazing young man who juggles many activities and responsibilities and does them all well.”
He maintains a GPA of 3.96 and participates in several honors courses, plays the trombone in band, plays bass in the orchestra and is a member of National Junior Honor Society.
Staley is described as “dependable, pleasant and highly motivated not only in the classroom, but in extracurricular activities.”
Additionally, Staley is very polite to adults and his peers and he is a mentor at Carey.
The committee added, ”Michael has high academic skills and takes on responsibilities and the demands of other activities with pride.”
Michael’s community involvement includes being a member of the Boy Scouts of America and he is working on the Cheyenne Christmas tree cleanup for his Eagle Scout project. He is involved with his church youth group, volunteers at the Laramie County Library and volunteers with K-9s 4 Mobility Inc.
