0 Forward Greater Cheyenne announced its community and economic strategies and implementation plan during the Launch event Thursday, January 17th.
Concerned about the future of the Greater Cheyenne area, community leaders formed Forward Greater Cheyenne and embarked upon a strategic planning process to help make the area a more prosperous and vibrant place to live, work, and do business.
To develop a comprehensive plan, Forward Greater Cheyenne Committee hired Atlanta-based Market Street Services to conduct a community assessment to take into account the wants and needs of Greater Cheyenne’s residents, workers, and employers, as well as to develop an Economic and Workforce Profile to provide detailed analysis of the area’s economic and workforce composition. The entire process included input from over 2,400 people in the community.
“While we have a lot of positives going for us as a county and city, I believe we can do better. FGC is important because without clarity and focus, our communities may continue to move forward at times in a disjointed and/or haphazard manner. Just like with a business, church or non-profit, the better we can move forward in a unified manner, the better chance for success.” shared Forward Greater Cheyenne Association Co-Chair, Brian Heithoff.
The input derived from the Community Assessment and Economic and Workforce Profile has led to the development of Forward Greater Cheyenne’s Community and Economic Development Strategy. The plan details eight strategic initiatives related to the community’s identified challenges and opportunities, and a corresponding set of actions and investments needed to help meet our community’s goals.
Forward Greater Cheyenne is a series of eight strategic initiatives that are designed to specifically address the findings from a yearlong research phase through Market Street Services, with the intention of helping Greater Cheyenne achieve its vision for the future.
Forward Greater Cheyenne Strategic Initiatives consist of:
- Downtown Revitalization
- Greenway Transformation
- LCCC Expansion
- Cheyenne Center for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
- Business Retention, Expansion, and Attraction
- Community Beautification
- Pride, Engagement, and Attachment
- Regional Assets and Infrastructure
The objective of these initiatives is to have Greater Cheyenne embark upon a strategic planning process to help make our community a more prosperous and vibrant place to live, work, and do business. Each area of focus will be held accountable through a team of strategy coordinators who will report regularly to a collective body; Forward Greater Cheyenne Association.
With adequate commitment to the initiatives, coupled with sufficient resource development and collaborative implementation, Greater Cheyenne can realize its vision and provide greater opportunities for generations to come.
