Walker Wilson Named LCSD #1 Student of the Week
Walker Wilson was selected as the Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Feb. 4. Wilson is an eighth-grader at Johnson Junior High.
While maintaining a 4.0 GPA, he remains very active in National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), wrestling, swimming and Johnson’s after-school weight lifting program.
Wilson’s extracurricular activities include membership in the Boy Scouts of America and he works with the Cheyenne Church of Christ’s youth program. Additionally, he developed a church youth rally video to promote the event. He aspires to attend the United States Air Force Academy, hoping to serve his family, his community and the country.
“Walker is the most humble student I have ever had the pleasure of working with,” a member of the selection committee said. “He works hard day in, day out and never asks to be noticed or commended for doing the right thing. He exemplifies the very characteristics many of us want to see in our own young children, which is why we chose him to represent Firebird Nation.”
“It is an honor for me to receive this award,” Wilson said. “This is my first year in the Wyoming school system, so it means a lot.”
