Thomas Cassidy LCSD #1 Student of the Week
Thomas Cassidy, a senior at East High High, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of March 18.
Cassidy maintains a 3.9 GPA and takes AP classes in math and English as well as advanced science and engineering courses. He is a member of National Honor Society (NHS).
Cassidy is the Operations Officer of East’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC). He serves as the Color Guard Competition Team Commander and belongs to Air Force One and Black Watch teams. Cassidy also lettered with East High’s football team.
Cassidy belongs to the Christian Youth in Action program. He earned his black belt in Taekwondo and has achieved Boy Scouts of America Eagle rank. As Assistant Scout Master, he teaches leadership and flag etiquette.
“Thomas loves working with youth and veterans,” East guidance counselor Angela Schelhaas said. “He built a community garden with an irrigation system on the Cheyenne VA Medical Center grounds and made it wheelchair accessible.”
Awarded an ROTC scholarship to the University of Wyoming, Cassidy plans to pursue a pre-med degree through their Biomedical Engineering program next fall.
