Fridays on the Plaza Line Up for 2019

After a number of months of planning, plotting, and picking, the City of Cheyenne Community Recreation & Events team has finalized the schedule for the 2019 Fridays on the Plaza concert series—and boy is this year a doozy!

Twenty-six bands will play between Friday, June 7 and August 30, with each concert being free and open to the public. This year Fridays on the Plaza has some notable changes that should excite fans:

• A larger stage presented in front of the Operations Building (located in the northeast corner of the Plaza)
• Upgraded production quality with new lighting and audio systems
• A new VIP Garden with seating for sponsors and other community members
• A rotating variety of food vendors (announced in advance so attendees can make dinner plans)
• Additional outdoor team games (giant Jenga, cornhole, checkers, etc.)
• Improved Plaza lighting and brick pavers
• New signage through the event & Plaza

In addition to the above changes, the Community Recreation & Events team unveils Fridays EXTENDED, designed to complement the traditional Fridays on the Plaza programming. The one catch? It’s not held on a Friday! Originally known in Cheyenne as Rhythm by the Rails, this 2-day concert series will be held during Cheyenne Frontier Days as an additional activity for guests in town (while we are not trying to compete with the wonderful performances and rodeo events held at Frontier Park, we do want to offer community members free options that complement the excitement of CFD–events that guests can take their families to when they’re exploring downtown Cheyenne).

As with other City of Cheyenne-organized Plaza events, there will be a variety of food vendors at Fridays EXTENDED, as well as beer sales for those aged 21+. In the future, Fridays EXTENDED hopes to grow the number of opportunities for community members to gather outside during the summer…on other days that aren’t Fridays.
