Black Hills Energy Names New Vice President of Wyoming Operations
Black Hills Corp. today announced the promotion of Jim Seward to vice president of operations for Black Hills Energy in Wyoming.
In his new role, Seward is responsible for all aspects of managing natural gas and electric operations for Black Hills Energy in Wyoming. Black Hills Energy serves 172,800 customers in 56 Wyoming communities including Cheyenne, Casper, Gillette, Laramie and Lander.
“Seward’s new role will leverage his leadership experience, industry knowledge and customer focus to
live our mission of improving life with energy in the communities we serve, and ensure we are ready to
provide our Wyoming customers with the valued service they’ve come to expect from Black Hills
Energy,” said Todd Jacobs, vice president of natural gas utilities, Black Hills Corp.
Seward, who will be based in Cheyenne, joins the Wyoming team from Colorado where he served as director of operations for Black Hills Energy’s electric utility. Seward replaces vice president, Shirley Welte, who will be relocating to Grimes, Iowa after being named vice president of operations for Black
Hills Energy’s Iowa natural gas utilities. Jim Seward joined Black Hills Energy in 2016 leading the government affairs team in Rapid City, South Dakota. Prior to joining Black Hills Energy, Seward was General Counsel for the State of South Dakota and a member of Governor Daugaard’s Executive Committee. He has served in the military for 26 years and is currently a Colonel in the Kansas National Guard and its State Judge Advocate.
