Cheyenne Animal Shelter Announces Change of Leadership
The Cheyenne Animal Shelter’s Board of Directors announced Thursday that Don Kremer will be stepping down from his position as CEO to return to his previous role as an Animal Control Officer.
Sue Castaneda, Director of Development, has been appointed Interim CEO.
“Mr. Kremer’s leadership has been invaluable during a challenging transition period for the Cheyenne Animal Shelter,” stated Board President, Samantha Vernon, DVM. “And while we are grateful for the leadership he has provided, Don wishes to return to serve as an Animal Control Officer, allowing him more flexibility to follow his true calling to missionary work in Africa.”
Vernon continued to add, “As ever, we are so fortunate to have such an incredibly effective and devoted team of animal care staff and animal control officers, as well as seasoned leadership and committed volunteers. Together, we will all continue to work toward capitalizing on and increasing our positive momentum.”
Over the past 49 years, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter has worked tirelessly to provide the best care possible for the nearly 6,000 animals that come through the doors of the Shelter. In addition to sheltering the homeless and neglected pet population, it is also a top priority of the staff to provide exceptional service to the citizens of Cheyenne and all of Laramie County.
“It has been an incredible opportunity to serve as the CEO for the Cheyenne Animal Shelter,” said Don Kremer. “However, after careful consideration, I believe that I can make more of a positive impact serving the public with Animal Control.”
