Library to Host “Speed Repping” Event with Elected Officials
“Speed Repping” is essentially a Speed Dating formatted event, but attendees get the opportunity to voice their concerns and opinions to elected officials.
On Tuesday, November 5th at 6:30 p.m. in the Cottonwood Room, Laramie County Library will host several elected officials from state, county, and city governments, including Governor Mark Gordon and Mayor Marian Orr, for a “Speed Repping” event. During the event, attendees can have their concerns and questions addressed directly by participating in brief, timed, one-on-one conversations with their representatives. The event will run until 8:00 p.m., so that each official will have time to speak to eighteen individuals.
Up-to-date information on which officials will be in attendance and specific guidelines for the event can be found at lclsonline.org. The titles and job descriptions of each official will also be posted; the library encourages interested participants to look over the list and ensure they are posing their questions to the relevant official. The library will begin assigning time slots for representatives half an hour before the event on a first come, first served basis.
This event is presented as part of Laramie County Library System, League of Women Voters Cheyenne, Wyoming Tribune Eagle, and Laramie County Community College’s celebration of Women’s Suffrage. It is one of several free and public events around the community celebrating suffrage, civic activism, and democracy. Another event celebrating the Women’s Suffrage Anniversary is the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce’s Women’s Leadership Luncheon, December 6th.
The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce’s Wyoming Business Advocates committee also celebrates democracy and advocates for the business community locally and nationally in Washington D.C. The Wyoming Business Advocates remains the strongest voice for the State of Wyoming and the greater Cheyenne area at the federal level. Local businesses and community members invest in this program to ensure a strong economic base for the community. Contact the Chamber if you would like your voice to be heard in Washington.
