On Saturday, May 27, 2017, local business owners will climb into Pro 4 Modified race cars and spend 15 thrilling laps racing against each other at Big Country Speedway (BCS) to raise money for charity.
The event, Go Fast for Good, is sponsored by local marketing firm West Edge Collective, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Cheyenne’s Black Dog Animal Rescue (BDAR). Black Dog Animal Rescue provides homeless animals across Wyoming with guaranteed safe and secure placement, as well as promotes the use of proven life-saving programs in our communities.
For event co-visionary Chad Willett, founder of West Edge Collective, Go Fast for Good is more than just a way to raise money for a good cause; it’s a way of connecting to his family’s roots.
“Having watched my parents and several aunt and uncles race, BCS has been in my soul since I was a small child,” says Willett. “My family owned a salvage yard on the south side and was a big sponsor of the track during the 1970’s and early 1980’s. I figured this event would be a great opportunity to pay homage to the track as well as raise a bit of money for a good cause.”
Willett joined forces with Brian Casey, owner of Mister B’s Heating and Cooling, to bring the idea of Go Fast for Good to life. Like Willett, Casey has racing in his blood.
“Racing has always been a part of my family, but I never really got the chance to try it out prior to last year,” Casey says. “Chad and I just thought, what a great way to get some businesses together, have a thrilling experience and raise money for a local charity. Racing is a hoot, and am glad to be a part of the event.”
Each of the drivers participating—none with extensive race experience—contributed $1000 to take part in the race. Joining Willett and Casey on the track May 27th will be Britney Wallesch of BDAR, Rich Smith of Hercules Industries; Colby Willett, on behalf of Pufkins; Sean Casey of Signature Electric; and Bria Hammock of Go Slo Wyo.
