Great Lakes recently announced the cancellation of their air services to the Cheyenne Regional Airport and now the community is seeking further public input to determine the future of air service. Currently the Cheyenne Regional Airport assembled a team called, CRAFT. The team is comprised of local professionals and economic development entities. Their role is to solici air carriers for regular passenger flights to the area.
Conversations regarding next steps include the use of a public/private partnership to pay for what is referred to as a Minimum Revenue Guarantee (MRG). If the flights are full then there is no need to pull funds out of the MRG. Therefore, selecting a route which is going to be filled with paying passengers is important. Currently on the table are 3 particular routes and they are being measured via a public poll being conducted by the Wyoming Tribune Eagle.
