Arrest Made in Shooting
CPD Officers Make Arrest in Shooting on Imperial Court
At approximately 7:50 p.m., on December 23 rd , 2017, officers from the Cheyenne Police Department responded to 5419 Imperial Court for a report of a disturbance with a gun shot. Officers determined Timothy Leners, 49-year- old male, was at the residence visiting
Joyce Trout, 45-year- old female. Leners got into an argument with Joyce’s husband, Chris Trout, 53-year- old male. The fight became physical and continued outside the residence. While fighting outside the residence, Leners pulled out a 9mm handgun and shot Trout in the chest.
Trout was transported to the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center by ambulance for a gunshot wound, and is expected to recover. Leners was located by Officers standing outside his vehicle across the street from the residence. A 9mm handgun, believed to be the weapon used to shot Trout, was located on Leners’ vehicle. Leners was arrested for aggravated assault and transported to the Laramie County Jail.
