Blue Federal Credit Union Breaks Ground on World Headquarters
Campus-style Facility Scheduled to Open in December 2020
Blue Federal Credit Union broke ground their new headquarters building on Saturday in the Cole Shopping Center. The celebration featured a lively crowd with fireworks and live music, showing a glimpse of the rejuvenation the project will bring to the vacant location at the corner of Pershing Blvd and Converse Ave.
The plans for a corporate headquarters campus was unveiled back in November and demolition of the old Safeway building had begun in the past months. Saturday’s ceremony featured the official ground breaking, compete with blue shovels piercing blue dirt, kicking off the construction phase that is scheduled to be completed in December of 2020.
“We are thrilled that the wait is over and we can get started to build our world headquarters in a place we all call home. The vision I share with the Board of Directors and our executive leadership team is to build a unique work environment where we work hard, have fun and win for our members,” said Stephanie Teubner, Blue’s CEO.
According to Blue Federal Credit Union, the 8-acre, “campus-style” property will include the headquarters building, a new branch location and retail space. Community facilities and open outdoor space will be incorporated into the plan as well. The main building on the campus will house approximately 170 employees, with a capacity up to 400 as the company grows. Existing office employees now scattered among five local branches will all be housed in the new location while Member Service staff will remain at their respective branches.
“The shopping center, as we all know, had come to ruin,” said Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr, via video during the celebration. “When it ultimately fell apart, and businesses moved away, it became not just an eyesore, but a sore for our community.”
