Botanic Gardens to Host 50th Annual Christmas House
Event to close public access to Grand Conservatory, Nov. 29-Dec. 2, for event setup and teardown.
The Botanic Gardens Grand Conservatory (710 S. Lions Park Drive) will be the site of the 50th Annual Christmas House. The event will take place Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1.
The Paul Smith Children’s Village and main grounds will remain open to the public but access to the Grand Conservatory will be closed Thursday, November 29 through Sunday, December 2 to accommodate Christmas House festivities.
The Christmas House has been the annual fundraising project of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) Women’s Civic League of Cheyenne (WCLC) for the past 49 years. WCLC is a non-profit organization, and Christmas House proceeds benefit local organizations and projects in Laramie County, Wyoming. Each year the majority of the money raised through Christmas House is distributed through the club’s Community Grant Committee process. Proceeds from the 2015 Christmas House – totaling $36,600 — were awarded to: Meals on Wheels, Friday Food Bag, Cheyenne Little Theater, City of Cheyenne Community Recreation and Events, Community Partnership, Family Promise of Cheyenne, and Youth Alternatives. Additionally, $8,500 in scholarships were awarded to 10 Laramie County high school seniors, one LCCC student, and a contribution made to the LCCC Foundation Matching Scholarship fund.
