Boys & Girls Club partners with JCPenney for the holidays
JCPenney teams up with Boys and Girls Club of Cheyenne to bring holiday joy to deserving local kids.
JCPenney is spreading holiday cheer by hosting a giving spree shopping event for 25 deserving kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Cheyenne, today, Thursday, Dec. 20. Each child received a $100 JCPenney gift card to purchase new clothes, coats, and shoes as well as presents for their family for the holiday season. This shopping event is just one of the ways that JCPenney is helping to close the opportunity gap for undeserved youth.
Shirlee Jacobsen, JCPenney’s General Manager was excited to have the Cheyenne location chosen, “We are thrilled to partner with the Boys & Girls Club for JCPenney’s Giving Spree event. This is such a special organization and our store team is very excited to help the kids shop tonight. It brings us a lot of joy to see the kids smiling, having fun and getting into the holiday spirit. We were able to give 25 pre-selected kids a $100 gift card that they can spend on new clothes, coats, shoes and gifts for their family. This is such a heart-warming way to give back to our local community.”
This is the fifth year that JCPenney has hosted giving spree events in its local communities. This year, the retailer has expanded the program to host a giving spree event in each continental state and Puerto Rico, benefiting over 1,275 low-income youth during the holiday season.
“The generosity of JCPenney comes at a great time of the year as the kids are in need of new clothes since the weather is colder and they have grown since the beginning of school. Our members will have an opportunity to shop for their own new clothes and shoes giving them a say in their own style which makes also makes them feel more confident, commented Rolinda Sample, Chief Professional Officer for the Boys and Girls Club of Cheyenne.
