Calling Artists for Public Art Opportunity Honoring Woman’s Suffrage in America
The 150th Anniversary of Woman’s Suffrage in America is this year. To commemorate this occasion, Visit Cheyenne, City of Cheyenne, and Arts Cheyenne are commissioning a mural in celebration.
An exterior brick wall on the main level has been acquired, spanning 8 feet high by 40 feet wide on the western side of the “mini mall” at 17th Street and Carey Ave. The art will serve as an educational piece telling the story Wyoming being the First Legislature voted to allow women the right to vote and hold public office. Artist applications are currently being accepted for this opportunity. The deadline to apply is June 12th and submissions need to be sent to jill@cheyenne.org. The selected artist will receive $1,000 upon completion of the final painting.
Artist will be notified of acceptance by June 21st, 2019 for an expected completion date of August 15th.
