Celebrate Furry Friends at Dog Days of Summer
Downtown Cheyenne is collaborating with local businesses, to bring “Dog Days of Summer” events to downtown.
“Dog Days of Summer” events will include a sidewalk sale and pet adoption events on Friday, August 23rd and Saturday, the 24th. A week-long pet food donation drive will also be part of the “Dog Days” activities August 19th – 24th. Donations of wet or dry food can be dropped off at the following downtown businesses: Red Bison Home, Our Place Antiques, Freedom’s Edge Brewery or Mid Mod Etc.
Downtown businesses, such as restaurants, brewpubs, and other service-based businesses, are encouraged to offer “dog-themed” specials as part of the fun! To build off the “Dog Days” theme, Downtown Cheyenne is also coordinating with the Cheyenne Animal Shelter and Yola Pet Rescue to have two downtown-based pet adoption events on Friday, August 23rd and Saturday, the 24th.
On Friday, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter will have an adoption booth in front of the Downtown Cheyenne office (1601 Capitol) from 5-7 pm; with an information booth from 3-5 pm.
On Saturday, August 24th , Eclectic Elephant Antiques, located at 112 W. 18th , will be hosting Yola Pet Rescue adoption event from 11 am – 2 pm. The Cheyenne Animal Shelter is also hosting the Dog Jog Color Run at Holliday Park. Dog Jog Color Run will have a 5k color powder course to run/walk, or a 1 mile (non-color powder) course to walk with your furry friend so that they can also participate in the day. They will also have vendors to browse and games for you and your pup.
