Cheyenne Welcomes Black Tooth Brewing Company
Sheridan’s Black Tooth Brewing Company plans to open a Cheyenne location this fall.
Black Tooth is a five year old start-up company based out of Sheridan, Wyoming. They capitalized on the trend that most US beer drinkers prefer craft beer.
“The market was just untapped,” says Travis Zeilstra, who co-founded Black Tooth in 2010. “There were no breweries south of Billings and north of Cheyenne, from Rapid City to Jackson. That’s why I came here.”
According to their website, Black Tooth Brewing Company wants to be the brewery of Wyoming.
Brewery manager Jesse Woods states, “Our Saddle Bronc Brown — there’s a bucking horse on the can…people see that, say, ‘Ok, that could be Wyoming’s beer. Then there’s the brown and gold: the cans are yellow and the beer is brown. In Laramie, at the University of Wyoming, college kids down there say, ‘this is Wyoming’s beer.'”
The new Cheyenne location will be in the old Pioneer Printing building, 520 W. 19th St. The Wyoming Tribune Eagle Sunday paper reported the building will become a 10 barrel microbrewery with a taproom in the front third of the building. Black Tooth brews are already prominent in the Cheyenne market – a number of bars and restaurants have the beer on tap and the beer is distributed locally by Cheyenne Beverage.
Black Tooth has emphasized the importance of opening a location in the capitol city to be a true Wyoming brand.
