City Awarded Grant to Renovate Tennis Courts at Jaycee Park
Residents and visitors of Cheyenne will soon have two renovated tennis courts to play on and sharpen their skills.
The renovations will come to fruition thanks to the City of Cheyenne being awarded a recreation mill levy grant totaling $112,500 to repair two tennis courts at Jaycee Park (Dillon Ave. and Foyer Ave.).
Currently, the tennis courts at Jaycee Park are in poor condition. The state of these courts – constructed in 2011 – are impacted by a crumbling court base, cracks in the playing surface, and an uneven surface in areas that collect puddles of water. Additionally, the chain-link fence surrounding the courts has become damaged and stretched out over time.
The awarded grant will help remedy these dated and unsafe conditions. The existing playing surfaces will be removed and replaced as new tennis nets and posts will also be installed. A new chain-link fence will also be installed.
Renovation of the courts will begin fall of 2019, weather permitting. Jaycee Park also offers a playground and basketball court.
