ANB Bank began serving the Cheyenne community in 1919 as American National Bank, originally located at 16th and Capitol Avenue, an area rich in history. The corner was previously occupied by the famous Inter-Ocean Hotel – built in 1877 in the final years of the Wyoming Territory. Noted as a Cheyenne cultural and historical center, the hotel was destroyed by fire in 1916, and the Hynds Building was constructed in its place.
In the late 50’s having outgrown its original space in the Hynds Building, construction began on a new bank building at 20th and Capitol Avenue, to include Wyoming’s first drive-up banking facility. In 1964, ANB Bank moved into its current Cheyenne facility at 19th and Capitol.
In 1987, the Bank was purchased by Donald Sturm of the Sturm Financial Group, Inc. out of Denver, Colorado.
Always looking ahead, the bank became the first to offer “In-Store” banking in the community in 1996 with its bank office on Dell Range in what was then Buttrey Big Fresh, which shortly after became Albertsons. ANB continues to offer convenient service to bank customers via the “In-store” branch in the Albertsons on Pershing. This full-service location offers extended hours right where customers shop.
Today, ANB Bank, Cheyenne, remains a full-service community bank dedicated to serving the citizens and business of Cheyenne and Wyoming. The bank helps its community prosper not only as a financial institution, but also through investment, sponsorship, philanthropy, and employee volunteerism.
