Community Shows Up to Support Airmen for Valentine’s Day
Over 620 dozen cookies were donated by the community for the Airmen in the Dorms Valentine’s Day Cookie Drive.
The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee with the Women’s Civic League of Cheyenne and the Warren Spouses’ Club hosted a Valentine’s Day Cookie Drive for the Airmen in the dorms at FE Warren AFB on February 11thand 12th.
Cheyenne businesses, community organizations, and individuals joined together to show their support of and appreciation for the airmen in the dorms at FE Warren AFB by baking and donating over 620 dozen cookies. Our military- supportive community exceeded our goal of 350 dozen which was what we rallied at our first Valentine’s Day cookie drive last year. This year’s generous donations enabled us to give each airman about a dozen cookies. In addition to enjoying a sweet treat, these young airmen—many far from home and experiencing their first Wyoming winter—received the message that Cheyenne cares for them and is glad that they are part of our community.
Some of the many businesses and organizations that donated to this event include:
Burns Insurance, Walmart, Blue Federal Credit Union, First Education FCU, Security First Bank, First American Title, First Interstate Bank, Trader Joe’s (Fort Collins), AARP, Cheyenne Evangelical Free Church, Cheyenne Frontier Days Public Relations Committee volunteers and Hillsdale Tiptoppers 4H. The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee, Women’s Civic League of Cheyenne and the Warren Spouses’ Club thanks the community for their participation in this troop morale-boosting event.
