CPD Responds to Disturbance With a Firearm Following Multiple REDDI and Hit and Run Reports.
CHEYENNE,Wyo – On April 20, 2017 at approximately 4:20 pm, Cheyenne Police received a REDDI (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) in the area of N. College Dr. and Fox Farm Rd. involving a red Ford Raptor. A short time later, witnesses reported a red Ford Raptor was involved in at least 2 hit and run crashes with motor vehicles while traveling north on College Drive between the I80 off ramp and Pershing Blvd.
Two witnesses followed the driver to an apartment complex located at 4006 Cheyenne St. The 26 year old suspect driver entered an apartment belonging to his brother. When the suspect came out of the apartment he was in possession of a gun and a knife. The suspect and the two witnesses engaged in a physical altercation in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
The two witnesses were able to disarm the suspect and hold him down until Cheyenne Police arrived. The suspect was transported to the hospital by ambulance with what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries.
This incident remains under investigation.
