Gardens Gone Wild Exhibition Opens at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens

Sculptures by Dan Ostermiller will be exhibited through August.

 Nearly 20 bronze sculptures by Dan Ostermiller will be on exhibit on the grounds and throughout the Grand Conservatory building at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens (710 S. Lions Park Dr.) through August. Pieces of the “Gardens Gone Wild” exhibit represent a full spectrum of wildlife and familiar barnyard animals and have been exhibited all over the nation. Most recently, they were on display in New Mexico at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden. The temporary installation is made possible by the City of Cheyenne, the Friends of the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens Foundation, and exhibition sponsors U.S. Bank and Jonah Bank of Wyoming.

“We are absolutely delighted to have Dan’s work here throughout the summer,” said Tina Worthman, Cheyenne Botanic Gardens Director. “His work brings whimsy and interest to our beautifully blooming grounds and interior spaces. We’re grateful for the support of our sponsors at the Friends group in making this installation possible.”

Dan Ostermiller, who is a Cheyenne native, has been based in Loveland, Colorado for over forty years. His award-winning works have been honored with many solo exhibitions around the U.S. and beyond and are held within the permanent collections of major museums. “I’m glad to bring this show to my hometown. I hope a lot of people come out to enjoy and experience the exhibit throughout the summer.”

Mr. Ostermiller will give a talk and tour on the sculptures at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens later in the summer, and a reception with the artist is planned for early August. Tickets for both events will be limited and available for purchase through the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens.

Most of the pieces are for sale, and smaller pieces are available for purchase from the Tilted Tulip gift shop at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens. Admission to the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens is free.

The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens includes nine acres of award-winning perennial and annual landscapes, as well as a diverse collection of specialty exhibits, a year-round vegetable garden, and the Grand Conservatory. The Gardens exists to cultivate growth and enrichment in the community of Cheyenne by providing a treasured garden space for enjoyment, celebration, and education.
