Laramie County School District 1 Student of the Week
McKell Brenchley, who is a senior at Central High, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Oct. 28.
Ranked at the top of her class, Brenchley is a member of National Honor Society and Central’s AP Capstone Diploma program.
Throughout the year, Brenchley participates in cross county, indoor track and soccer. A two-time all-conference cross-country runner, she was also the 2017 Women’s Cross-Country State Champion. In soccer, she has led her team to an overall record of 49-10, two conference championships, two regional championships and one state championship. In addition, she is four-year varsity letter winner.
Members of the nominating committee said she is a confident, hard-working student who is always willing to contribute in class and help her peers.
Heavily involved in her church, Brenchley has prepared food baskets, served Thanksgiving dinners and assembled Friday Food Bags. She provides services, such as lawn care, for people in need and volunteers to play piano at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, setting a relaxing, inviting atmosphere.
“Benchley is a prime example of Central’s expectations as a student athlete,” Central High counselor Jeff Norman said. “She values her academics and athletics, while modeling exceptional behavior on and off the field.”
