Laramie County School District 1 Student of the Week
Greta Woods, who is an 11th-grade student at East High School, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Jan. 28.
“Greta has a positive attitude and is always willing to help others,” members of the selection committee said.
Woods takes challenging AP courses and maintains a strong GPA. She plays for East High’s volleyball team and is active in “We the People,” a program that teaches United States constitutional history.
According to counselors, “Greta is a great collaborator in the classroom and a kind person. Her genuine kindness and positivity will help her in life.”
Along with her involvement at the school, Woods said she also volunteers at her church. Civic responsibility is important to her and she displays her passion for that conviction by placing flags around the community every Independence Day.
After high school, Woods plans to go to college to become a pediatric nurse. Counselors commend Woods for her willingness to put others before herself, which most likely stems from her belief that individuals should be the change they wish to see in the world.
“I didn’t know I was capable of being Student of the Week,” Woods said. “It’s a nice surprise.”
