Laramie County School District 1 Student of the Week
Brittney Herrera, who is a senior at South High, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Sept. 16.
As she finishes up her career at South, Herrera is considering earning a bachelor’s degree in math in order to pursue a career in that field.
Herrera is passionate about film making and enjoys that as a hobby. Additionally, she is enrolled in numerous Advanced Placement (AP) and honor classes.
According to members of the nominating committee, Herrera abides by South’s HERD values, Honorable, Enthusiastic, Responsible and Determined.
Staff members say Herrera is an especially great example of being determined and responsible. She is diligent about striving to meet her goal to graduate and works hard to do her best, even when circumstances are challenging.
“She is a great leader to the younger students,” a South High staff member said. “She makes good decisions about her future and her role at South. She continually seeks to improve herself and help others. She’s a great example and is very worthy of Student of the Week.”
