Laramie County School District 1 Student of the Week
Michael Rodriguez, who is a seventh-grade student at McCormick Junior High, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Oct. 7.
Rodriguez, who has a twin brother, enjoys football, wrestling and band. In his classes, he works hard and often takes leadership roles to assist teachers and students.
“Michael was the first student who took time out of his day to introduce himself to me,” Dr. Justin Conroy, McCormick’s principal said. “He assisted me as I welcomed students on the first day of school. I had the opportunity to get to know him and understand his passion for the outdoors and football.”
According to Conroy, Rodriguez still holds the door open for students entering the building. He welcomes everyone, gives them high fives, and wishes them a good day. He added that Rodriguez always has a smile on his face.
Members of the nominating committee added that Rodriguez is very intelligent and has a giving heart.
