Local Dancers Featured in Ballet Wyoming Upcoming Alice in Wonderland Production helps Wheels for Charity
Cheyenne is growing its arts and cultural offerings with local talent.
There have been limited opportunities for performing arts in Wyoming and even less opportunities for local dancers to take their career to a professional level. For more than a decade, Ballet Wyoming has been working hard to provide dancers a medium to further develop their skills. The company has elevated professional growth for all area dancers, and is a regional draw for its offerings from Cleo Parker Robinson, Ballet West, University of Wyoming, and many others. They also have been enriching the community through photo campaigns like their “Shop Small Business Saturday” Campaign. Recently they continued their partnership with the Cheyenne Wheels for Charity non-profit where they raffle off a car that is fully restored by Midas of Cheyenne. All proceeds go toward local charities.
Ballet Wyoming’s portfolio is comprised of storybook ballets like Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan and like the upcoming production of Alice in Wonderland. Artist organizations, such as this, are able to supply these entertainment productions and professional development for dancers because of ticket sales and sponsorship investments from area businesses. The community continues to show how much they care about Ballet Wyoming through their continued investment.
“The Alice in Wonderland production is going to be our best performance yet.” Barb Sandick, Executive Director, “Tiffany Erickson, who is a Cheyenne Native, is an incredible dancer and an equally talented Artistic Director. Her vision comes to life with movement, personality and music, like I have never witnessed before.”
Alice in Wonderland is a mystical tale and the adventure is one the audience gets to experience through its playful choreography. This particular production has dancers of all ages and features a total of 28 local dancers from various backgrounds and studios. It’s an “Ace” production with three performance at the Atlas Theatre, 211 W. Lincolnway; Friday April 26th at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, April 27th at 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.
