Mayor declares May Historic Preservation Month
Mayor Marian Orr visited with community members today as she read a proclamation declaring May “Historic Preservation Month” in Cheyenne.
In this monumental, first-time proclamation, Mayor Orr referenced the origins of the Cheyenne Historic Preservation board in 1986, as the city recognized importance of historic places. The proclamation noted that historic preservation is a key tool to help with growth management, neighborhood revitalization and the continued growth of pride locally.
After the proclamation, Alan O’Hashi presented on the Japanese community in Cheyenne, alluding to the demolition of properties from the community, to include the Cupid’s Building later this month. There are multiple other events throughout the month celebrating Historic Preservation Month, to include an Old West Pub tour and a downtown living loft tour.
